Tales of the Shepherd - Beta 1.0 Release!
Another week has passed and we have something special to announce:
Tales of the Shepherd Beta 1.0 is here!
After a lot of work on this project we are finally able to present TotS in its first Beta version. This marks a huge milestone for us and we consider the game to be in a state close to our final vision of the project.
There are a ton of changes since the alpha release, but some of the most notable features include:
- A completely finished first zone! This includes three levels, each with their own enemies and generation of scenery, and of course a dastardly villain waiting for you at the end.
- Reworked Equipment! Many more weapons and armor parts to find and best your enemies with.
- A Reworked Potion system! Find a slew of different randomly generated potions down in the depths.
- New Magics to sling aroung! You will find many different runes, scrolls and spell books on your journey to carve your way through the dungeons with.
- Changes to the combat engine! During your fights you will stumble upon many new features like status effects and more advanced enemy AI.
- A new Dialogue System! Find NPCs on your travels, offering tips and (not so) helpful advice.
- New music! The first wave of songs are in the game, and will soon be released in their beta versions. Stay tuned!
- Many balance changes! All the new additions to the game also warranted changes to the game’s balance, so we reworked many stats and tweaked all those little cogs moving under the hood.
- A lot of Quality of Life changes! Changes to the game’s control scheme and engine optimizations have been made to provide an even smoother experience.
There are even more things for you to discover and of course a lot of ideas planned for the next version. We will also partially publish a beta version of the soundtrack soon!
We are truly excited and hope you enjoy this new version of Tales of the Shepherd. You can also look forward to some smaller updates over the course of the next weeks, including some bug fixes and more polished music. Of course, feedback is highly appreciated, it is still a Beta after all ;)
