Tales of the Shepherd - Devlog #3


This week was all about technical stuff.

So even though most changes aren't visible, we made good progress.

  • To complete the input rework, we added fully customizable keybindings. 
    Combined with the update of last week, this should make the game a lot more accessible.
    You can change the controls in the main menu.
  • Rendering has been overhauled in preparation for animated entities. Up until now, the game only did a redraw after the player pressed any key. We now introduced a fixed framerate and reworked the rendering, to only redraw parts of the screen that have changed.
  • We also extended the engine to support sounds and music. Sadly the music isn't ready yet to be included in the game...

Our plans for next week:

  • Start adding animated entities to the game
  • Include basic sounds to make sure everything works as expected
